Quick Update

Just a quick note telling all y'all what we've been up to. I'll go into more detail later...

On July 7, David, Daniel, and I flew out to Salt Lake for a Nash family reunion, which was a lot of fun at a fantastic venue. At the end of that week I went down to my sister DeeAnn's in Nephi, along with my sister Lisle visiting from Reno, then on Sunday went to my brother Nate's in Maptleton. Monday we all met with my sister Minda visiting from just south of Carson City, NV and my brother Sean in from CT. We went swimming at a pool in Spanish Fork. That was a fun, impromptu little reunion.

Tuesday the boys and I flew up to Washington to spend some time with Nathan's family. Daniel got yet another ear infection when we got to Washington, but he's been medicated and that seems to be on the mend. He's scheduled to get tubes on Aug 6. Meanwhile, David got his throw-up bug two nights ago, and Daniel threw up last night. Sarah's daughter Sophia (2 years old) is giving us signs that she'll join the party sometime today, too. That gets a little trickier to manage since Sophia is diabetic, and just giving her clear fluids throws her sugar levels out of whack. We're trying hard to keep Jane (6 months) out of the fray, and all the kids are staying downstairs with the carpet that cleans up easier...just in case. We've also got towels and blankets spread over all the furniture (David inducted the sofa yesterday, naturally in the 3 minutes I left his side to go upstairs and ask Bethany a question). Happy times. David and Daniel seem to be feeling dandy now, so we're hoping it's a quick bug for Sarah's sake. She flies back to Boise tomorrow, and then is driving down to Utah for a Parry reunion.

Nathan just arrived in Washington last night (yay!) and leaves early tomorrow morning (*sniff sniff*) for Canada to go fishing with his Dad, Scott. They'll get home Saturday evening, and we all fly home Monday morning.

Gotta run!

This and That

Today at church David overheard Nathan telling someone that I was going to be out of town for the next three weeks (so blogging will be minimal, by the way).  Then as we were leaving several minutes later and I beckoned him to come with me, he said, "Where are we going Mommy?"  I replied, "To the car..." and he stopped and said, "No, we're going to Utah!"

Last night David requested I sing "Jesus Wants Me for a Sunbeam" with him at bedtime.  He doesn't quite know all the words and so prefers to listen rather than sing along, but last night as I was singing, he had a huge, sweet smile, and his eyes twinkled at me in the dim light filtering through his curtains, and I thought to myself, he truly is beaming.  I sure love my little Sunbeam!

"Eight Things" Afterthoughts

In May I participated in an "Eight Things" Tag on my blog.  At the time I was having a hard time coming up with stuff.  True to my forever-mulling nature, I've still pondered on some of my replies over the past two months and wanted to add some things.  Okay, okay, I know that defeats the "limit-yourself-to-eight" part of the tag, but humor me.

[More] things I want to do before I die:
  • Learn to sing alto.
  • Re-learn to play the piano (I can read music and had lessons in 4th grade.  I just need lots and lots of practice.  ....And a piano.)
  • Perform with a Drum & Bugle Corps Color Guard (I honestly think this is a missed opportunity, but it has been a dream of mine since I first joined Marching Band)

[More] common phrases heard in my house:
  • "Mommy, play a game with me?"
  • "I love you"
  • "Is s/he getting tired Mommy?" (David assumes anyone cranky or crying is tired.  He's probably right more often than not)
  • When I'm kissing him goodnight: "I want 10 kisses and 10 hugs!"
  • "D, V, D!  That's my name!" (see this post for story)
  • "I want [...] after my milk" (but he really means he wants milk after he finishes eating whatever [...] is at the time)

[More] favorite songs:
  • Dragostea Din Tei (a.k.a. Numa Numa Song) by O-Zone
  • MalagueƱa--marching band style! (Listen here)
  • Online by Brad Paisley

[More] random things about me:
  • I like to eat molasses by the spoonful, straight out of the jar.
  • I learned floral design in a 6-week course with a florist in Utah
  • I'm scarred for life from watching--at a very young age--some 1980's made-for-tv, Arachniphobia-esque movie about Nightcrawlers and consequently am very squeamish around worms.  Bugs fine, snakes fine, worms--no way.
Glad to get all that out.  Thanks for humoring me!  :)

Numa Numa Mania

Nathan and I have been listening to a particularly catchy tune a lot lately, and Daniel likes it, too.  Watch our little rock star groove to the beat:
(Turn up your volume to hear the music)

Curious about the song? Dragostea Din Tei by a Romanian group called O-Zone.
Here it is performed live (in Romanian):
